Homeschool Field Trip Day
Tuesday, April 24 and Tuesday, September 18 -2012
We have specifically set aside two Homeschool Days at Busy Barns Farm. We are open from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for your children to experience our outdoor classroom. We will post our website if we are closed either day due to rain. The designated rain dates are Tuesday, May 1 and Tuesday, September 25 -2012.
Every child will receiveā¦
- Free cone of animal feed to use during the field trip
- Free agriculture education booklet
- Access to our "Animal Chores" curriculum
- A "make-n-take" activity in the spring and a kid-sized pumpkin in the fall
- Lots of great memories and learning opportunities!
PLUS a 30-minute educational lesson called 'Animal Feed Mixed Bag'. A certified on-farm educator will teach lesson #3 (page 40) from our farm's 2012 Fall Curriculum Guide, "Animal Chores".
You're children will learn about the various feed types and animal nutrition.
The 'Animal Feed Mixed Bag' lesson is at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm and the hayrides run throughout the day. Your free to discover the farm, bring and eat your snack or picnic lunch and visit the pumpkin patch at your leisure. Bottle water will be available for purchase for $1.
There is no advance registration required, and you pay as you
enter. Homeschool Field Trip Day admission is $6.50 per person, under 1
is free. If you choose a different weekday for a field trip, your group
must register and will be subject to the $50 deposit and minimum of
$100 group rate to schedule your field trip. See school field trip page.
There are a few advantages to a day tailored to homeschoolers only...
- are not placed on a specific schedule
- have additional time to spend at the farm
- will not have to share time with public or private schools
